Summer is sadly coming to an end, though there is still time to make the most of it. With just a few weeks to go until September, this may be the last chance to soak in some good weather before temperatures start dropping.
While there is no wrong way to celebrate the summer, it is hard to think of a more classic day out than a trip to the beach. Whether you have already enjoyed a day beside the seaside this summer or haven't gotten around to it yet, there is no time like the present to head to the coast.

1. Gullane Bents, East Lothian
Also known as Gullane Beach, this picturesque bay is located around just 20 miles out of Edinburgh—making it a perfect choice for those in the Scottish capital looking for a day out by the beach. One of the most popular beaches along the east coast of Scotland, it is super family-friendly and perfect for sunbathing, walking, and even windsurfing.

Brora Beach is a small and unspoilt bay found near the village of Brora in the east of Sutherland. Nestled next to a renowned golf course, it is known for its sloping seafront and wildlife spotting opportunities—with everything from seals to minke whales spotted off the coast.
