Romania legend Florin Prunea is fully convinced FCSB will deny Aberdeen a place in the group stage of the Europa League by coming out on top in their crunch playoff showdown.

And the former goalkeeper is expecting the Romanians to net at least two goals at Pittodrie on Thursday.

Jimmy Thelin's men host the Liga I champions in the first leg of the final Europa League qualification hurdle this week, with the return led in the Romanian capital of Bucharest coming seven days later.

The loser of the tie will drop into the revamped group stage of the Conference League, with the victors set to claim the mulit-million pound jackpot for reaching Europe's second-tier competition.

The Dons go into the game off the back of a 3-0 victory against Greenock Morton in the Premier Sports Cup but 1994 World Cup hero Prunea says they'll be no match for FSCB.

Speaking to iamsport.ro, he said: "FCSB qualification, no problems, 100 percent, qualification without problems.

"Two wins, both away and at home. I'm not taking any chances at all. FCSB scores at least two goals at Aberdeen."

However, FCSB midfielder Adrian Sut is erred on the side of caution, warning his teammates to be 'mature' in the two-legged showdown with the Reds after suffering a shock exit to Shkendija in qualifying for the Champions League.

"I wouldn't want us to relax now, after qualifying in a group (no Conference League)", he added.

"Our objective was the Champions League, we didn't achieve that, so we have to qualify for the Europa League.

"We saw last season how nice it is to play against very strong opponents.

"Today it doesn't matter if you are the favourite.

"We learned a lot from the matches with Shkendija and Inter d'Escaldes.

"We have to be mature and not think that we are the favourite.

"Only in this way will we manage to have an easy match."
