Dillian Whyte has slammed Anthony Joshua as a d***head and insists he is still targeting a rematch with his rival 10 years after he was nailed to on the canvas by the power-punching heavyweight.

Whyte, 37, beat Joshua in the amateur ranks but was stopped inside seven rounds by the 2012 Olympian in a challenge for the British and Commonwealth titles in December 2015.

The duo were set to face off again in August 2023, only for Whyte to be removed from the event on fight week after he tested positive for a banned substance.

Joshua's bid to become a three-time world champion was rocked last September when he was brutally knocked out in seven rounds by IBF title holder Daniel Dubois - who takes on Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight crown at Wembley Stadium on July 19.

And Whyte - who is set to return to the ring on the undercard of the heavyweight dust-up between Fabio Wardley and Justis Huni at Ipswich Town's Portman Road on June 7 - has been less than impressed with Joshua's refusal to give his thoughts on the fight between Dubois and Usyk to the media.

Speaking to iFL TV, he said: "Joshua's a d***head. He just chats s***. Everything's not all about him, you know

"That's just a d***head. thing to do. When you are fighting, they ask other fighters about your fight and other fighters give their opinions.

"He just chats s*** sometimes man. He's such a strange guy.

"There is no need to do some of the stuff he does. What the f*** is wrong with you?"

Whyte - who lost out in a WBC world title tilt to Tyson Fury in 2022 - is hopeful that a victory next month against a yet to be determined opponent can get him back in the mix for big fights, including a rematch with Joshua.

"The big fights are happening. I am serious about getting back. I am not just here to jump into big fights to get paid and make a bit of noise.

"I want the best chance of winning these fights to get back with Joshua and all of that.

"It's short notice but I've been training, so why not, I'll get a 10 rounder in. Inactivity has killed my career unfortunately."

"We tried to get a few undefeated guys but they don't want the fight. It's not my card and I am not the main event so we have to be smart and sensible.

"It's three weeks notice but we are trying to get the best opponent possible."
