Ben Davies leaves Rangers for Oxford United in loan transfer that signals end of Ibrox career
Defender is in the final 12 months of his contract and will spend this season with Gary Rowett's side in the Championship.
Ben Davies has completed a loan switch to Oxford United as Russell Martin ramps up his Rangers clear out.
Hot on the heels of Jefte’s £6.5m move to Brazil with Palmeiras and Jose Cifuentes’ loan move to Toronto, centre-back Davies has moved to the Championship club on a season-long deal which signals the end of his spell at Ibrox.
Davies is in the final 12-months of his contract in Govan and hasn’t featured since returning from a loan stint with Birmingham in the summer.
Now he will spend this campaign with Gary Rowett’s U’s who ironically won promotion along with Birmingham back in May.
Davies joined Rangers from Liverpool three years ago and made 58 appearances scoring once. The 30-year-old was also wanted by QPR and for a second spell with Birmingham.
But he has chosen Oxford and will quickly be followed out the door at Ibrox by Ridvan Yilmaz.
The left back said his goodbyes to his Ibrox team mates on Thursday and is expected to be confirmed as a Besiktas player again in the coming days.
A fee believed to be around £2m has been agreed between the clubs and the 24-year-old will return to Istanbul three years after departing for Ibrox.
Cifuentes completed a season long loan switch to Toronto FC on Friday with the MLS side having an option to buy.
