As any parent knows, the phrases 'budget-friendly' and 'theme park' rarely go hand in hand. And when the kids are bored, it can be hard to keep them entertained without breaking the bank.

A study by Outdoor Toys has analysed the peak pricing of theme parks across the UK, ranking attractions based on the cost of children's tickets during summer weekends. The findings suggest that those willing to visit during quieter periods or weekdays could save even more money.

Topping the list was Playland Fun Park in Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire, which doesn't charge an entry fee. Instead, visitors pay for individual rides, many of which are priced at just £1.

The park's website boasts "20 fantastic attractions", including a pirate ship, F1 cars, and bumper boats. On warmer days, children can cool off in the splash park. Thrifty parents can further reduce costs by bringing their own food and drink - there's a picnic area with tables.

Despite its low prices, Playland has received positive feedback on TripAdvisor. One visitor said: "Went with our son and our 3 year old granddaughter . She loved it. Loads of electric cars and bikes for her to drive. She was very happy there and on way home. Queues very small even on a sunny Saturday, every ride 1 or 2 pounds."

Another reviewer noted: "This was really fun and a great price. Does need a bit of a refurb but we enjoyed it regardless. Nice pace going round."

Next up was The Web Adventure Park, located just outside York. A kids' ticket costs a mere £17.95 during summer, providing entry to an indoor play zone, funfair rides, and an 'animal encounters' area where little ones can get up close with creatures.

Regular foam parties take place throughout summer as well, so remember to bring extra clothing. It boasts an impressive 4.5-star TripAdvisor rating. One guest raved: "Amazing value for money! All staff were excellent and friendly. Was nice to have paid and let the kids enjoy everything without having to budget."

Taking third place is Camel Creek Adventure Park in Wadebridge, Cornwall, where admission begins at just £20 for youngsters, with tots under 92cm getting in without charge.

A bonus feature means buying a day pass grants you the option of a complimentary seven-day ticket – perfect for families holidaying in the popular Cornwall area. Camel Creek boasts exciting attractions including Thunder Falls, a roller coaster culminating in a splash, a pirate vessel, and chair swings.

For animal enthusiasts, the stables and petting area will prove popular, providing opportunities to encounter various loveable animals. Narrowly missing third position is Fantasy Island in Skegness.

Should adrenaline rides not appeal, entry is free and visitors can enjoy features like the daily market.

But for those wanting to experience the rides, a single-day wristband costs £20.50 for children, according to the study. For those planning a longer visit, Fantasy Island offers two or seven-day wristbands, providing better value for money.

The park boasts a wide range of attractions, from white-water rapids to thrilling rollercoasters, as well as gentler rides suitable for younger children. On-site accommodation is available for those looking to extend their stay and make the most of the park.

Fantasy Island holds a 3.8-star rating on TripAdvisor, with one visitor stating: "We've been before but not for a few years, and I have to say I think Fantasy Island is a great day out for all the family. The kids (aged 14, 11 and 8) had a superb time and I thoroughly recommend spending a full day here. Wristband prices are good value."

The same reviewer also shared a useful tip, saying: "I didn't realise beforehand but apparently there is a blue light discount too if you are eligible."

Completing the top five, BeWILDerwood in Cheshire came in fifth place, with peak season admission priced at just under £23. BeWILDerwood promotes itself as offering "magical family fun in the great outdoors" and features woodland-themed adventures including an aerial maze, enormous slides, and live performances all included in your entry fee.
