Chris Eubank Jr defamation verdict delivered after furious 'scumbag' attack on Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn
Eubank Jr launched a scathing tirade on the two promotional heavyweights last year
Frank Warren's defamation case against Chris Eubank Jr has been settled 'amicably' - nine months after the British boxing star labelled the veteran promoter as a 'scumbag' in a furious press-conference attack.
Eubank Jr - who scored a huge win over fierce rival Conor Benn at the Tottenham Stadium last month - has never seen eye-to-eye with Warren, who he first came into contact with when he lost to his other arch enemy Billy Joe Saunders on a Queensberry Promotions bill put together by boxing supremo Warren back in 2014.
Ahead of his fight against Kamil Szeremeta on the undercard of the undisputed light-heavyweight showdown between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia last October, Eubank Jr launched an astonishing attack on both Warren and fellow promoters Eddie Hearn and Kalle Sauerland, who he had also previously worked with.
During an official launch-press conference for the event, Eubank Jr was asked why he had decided to team up with Ben Shalom's promotional company BOXXER and replied: "Why Boxxer? Because every other promoter out there is a scumbag.
"You know, you've got Frank Warren behind me, been lying and cheating his way through boxing for the last couple of decades.
'"He [Frank Warren] sued me for a couple of hundred thousand a few years ago so obviously I'd never go with him. Scumbag.
"Kalle Sauerland, kept me in a terrible contract for several years. Scumbag.
"Eddie Hearn and Frank Smith tried everything they could to make this Connor Benn fight. So yes, scumbags. The only one who isn't is Turki Alalshikh [Saudi Arabia's boxing powerbroker].
"This is a man who isn't trying to take money for fighters, and use lawyers and accountants in slave contracts."
While Eubank Jr later apologised for the tirade, a livid Warren had claimed he would sue the middleweight contender for defamation.
But it now appears that the dispute has been put to bed.
A joint statement from Eubank Jr and Queensberry Promotions on Monday read: "Frank Warren and Chris Eubank Jr confirm that the defamation proceedings against Chris Eubank Jr have been settled amicably.
"With these proceedings now settled, both Frank Warren and Chris Eubank Jr now look forward to a positive, professional relationship in the future."
