Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp users have been left frustrated as a widespread Meta outage takes hold.

Downdetector, a website that tracks issues with websites and apps, has seen a significant surge in reports of Facebook and other Meta app outages, with affected users numbering over 100,000 since around 6pm today.

Instagram hasn't escaped the chaos either, with nearly 12,000 issues reported to Downdetector since 6pm. Both social media platforms are under the Meta umbrella.

WhatsApp, another Meta-owned app, has also experienced numerous disruptions today, with over 9,600 outage reports logged since 6pm.

The issue seems to be global, with many complaints originating from the US. The Mirror has reached out to Meta for a response, reports the Mirror.
