Fan favourite Eastenders star leaves showbiz to pursue religion in India
A huge soap star is reportedly set to quit showbiz entirely with sudden move to India to practice the Hare Krishna religion.
Eastenders star Bobby Brazier is reportedly leaving the showbiz world behind in order to pursue religion in India. The young actor is well known for playing the role of Freddie Slater in the popular soap since 2022.
However, it was announced in June that the 22-year-old would be leaving the show after three years. Bobby's character was a fan favourite amongst audiences, with the role even winning him a National Television Award in 2023.
Despite having continued success in the industry - with him also being a runner up in Strictly Come Dancing in 2023 and winning a National Film Award UK - it seems the star is ready for something completely new.
It has been reported that Bobby, who is the son of Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier, is set to make a surprise move to India to focus on a form of Hinduism called Hare Krishna, reports the Mirror.
A source has claimed that the soap star is planning to stay in a commune in India once he has finished up his final stint as Freddie by the end of the year.
Speaking to The Sun, they claimed: "Bobby is really excited and happy about his move to India. He’s been telling everyone about it and preaching to them about why he is devoted to Hare Krishna.
"He’s such a nice young man, his heart is in the right place, but some people are surprised that he’s walking away from his career at a time when he’s on such a high with it."
The source went on to claim that the actor is planning on staying there for at least a year and that he 'might' decide to pick up his acting career when he returns to the UK.
Bobby first joined the BBC soap back in 2022 and had been entertaining fans with a variety of dramatic storylines over the years. Some of which included the teen discovering uncomfortable truths about his biological dad and navigating a potential romance with Anna Knight.
After it was revealed in June that the 22-year-old would be leaving Albert Square, the young actor recently spoke about what he hopes lies ahead after leaving the soap.
At the National Film Awards, where Bobby received an award for his role in Paramount+ series Curfew, he shared that he is uncertain about his next steps.
He told OK!: "I don't know, I guess that's how it really goes and how it works in this industry. You never really know what's next until you go for it.
"But yeah, I'd like to play a variety of different roles so I can work out what I like, what I'm good at and what I need to work on."
Confirming Bobb's upcoming exit from the show, a spokesperson from Eastenders said: "We can confirm that Bobby Brazier will be leaving EastEnders, and we wish him all the best for the future."
