French horse racing jockey 'hangs on for dear life' in incredible incident at Auteuil

The rider was left in a nightmare situation after being unseated from his mount

French jockey Kevin Nabet was left clinging onto a rival and skating down the track after an incredible incident at Auteuil.

The rider was left in a nightmare situation after being unseated from his mount Lord Brett during the first race on Saturday morning’s card at the French course.

Nabet was slung into the air when the 6/5 favourite for the two-miles-and-six-furlongs event failed to jump properly and launched him into the air.

As he came down, the quick-thinking pilot grabbed out trying to find something to hold onto an ended up grabbing a hold of a rein on opponent L’Amazone, ridden by Clement Lefebvre, who was following closely behind at the time of the incident.

When both horses kept running down the straight, Nabet found himself with a a hand on each horses' rein and began sliding down the course fully upright for 20 yards before slipping gracefully and safely to the turf as the other competitors continued the race.

As the scenario unfolded, commentator Darren Owen seemed amazed at the moment said: “Look at Lord Brett’s jockey there, hanging on for dear life.”
