Hamza Igamane 'refuses' to play for Rangers as Russell Martin drops stunning bombshell

The Rangers boss made the explosive revelation after the match in Paisley finished 1-1 against St Mirren

Irked Russell Martin has claimed Hamza Igamane told him he was injured DURING the draw with St Mirren – strongly hinting he refused to play for Rangers.

Lille have held an interest throughout the summer and Record Sport understands a loan offer for the Moroccan was booted out by Rangers earlier this week.

Igamane has had plenty of interest this summer with the Ligue 1 side joined by Marseille and Feyenoord in casting flattering glances.

And with the transfer deadline rapidly approaching, Martin has revealed that Igamane refused to come on during the 1-1 draw with St Mirren.

At the time of the snub in Paisley, the Light Blues were trailing before Findlay Curtis came off the bench to level the Premiership clash.

Asked by Sky Sports if there was a temptation to throw on Igamane in the second half, Martin quickly hit back: "Hamza told me he was injured.

"So, we had a big for Hamza this week, we rejected it, and all was fine. He trained fine yesterday, warmed up fine, and he turned round at 60 minutes because I wanted two strikers on the pitch - that's why Danny (Danilo) and Gass (Gassama) ended up there, and Hamza told me he is injured."

Pressed on if the frontman was now refusing to play, Martin responded: "I don't know. I have to trust him, but we will wait and see.

Rangers Head Coach Russell Martin

"The issue is that the transfer window is still open. There are a lot of people with one eye out the door and one eye in, and we need people to be all in, all the time at this football club.

There are still too many people who are uncertain and think 'maybe there is something there for me'. So, the window needs to shut quickly and in house we need to make sure it's people that want to be here. So, the people that stay really, really want to be here. I'm calm about it, Kevin (Thelwell) and Patrick (Stewart) are aware of it, and we will see where it goes."

Asked on if Igamane had any future at the club, he said: "It's 15-20 minutes after the game, so I don't know where it goes. We will have to wait and see."
