Hamza Igamane told his Rangers career is over as Ibrox mentor turns on him in disgusted rant
Igamane refused to come on and the Rangers pundits all believe his career at Ibrox is over
It's game, set and match for Hamza Igamane at Rangers – and there's nothing left to do but show him the door.
That's the unanimous verdict of the pundits, including one of his coaches from last season who believes Russell Martin was spot on to call him out.
The Ibrox boss dropped the bombshell that Igamane, who the club rejected an offer for last week, had refused to come on during their 1-1 draw with St Mirren, citing an injury that he knew nothing about.
Martin says he'll have to take Igamane's word for it for now, with the Moroccan claiming he'd picked up a quad problem in the warmup.
Widely though the belief seems to be there is more to it than that and Billy Dodds, who coached Igamane under Barry Ferguson last season, isn't having it at all.
He told the BBC: "Russell Martin is right to out Igamane. It doesn't help him with the predicament that he's in just now.
"It's Rangers, you'd never refuse to go on the park. I don't care who it is, if you refuse, you should be out of the club, end of."
He wasn't the only one either. Steven Thompson joined him on the radio panel and the former St Mirren and Gers striker said: "I don't know what Igamane's thinking about. Absolutely ridiculous. We're clearly at the stage where he's never playing for Rangers again, or he shouldn't if he's refusing to come on the pitch.
"It's embarrassing from him. From that point of view, he's right to call it out. I imagine he'll be moving this week, and if he doesn't, then he's going to have a horrible time of it."
The most scathing assessment though arguably came from Kris Boyd on Sky Sports who unloaded with a furious rant. He said: "If he's injured, he's injured, but I highly doubt it.
"If that is the case and I am Rangers Football Club, I am packing his bags, driving him to the airport and saying bye. If you don't have people who are willing to knuckle down and work hard to help this team at the moment, then see you later.
"It's at boiling point right now with the fans towards the manager and the team. If Russell Martin is not strong to see this through, he is going to join Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Phillippe Clement and Michael Beale in going out the door.
"He needs to get the right type of characters in this dressing room and quick.
"I remember Daniel Cousin (at Rangers) absolutely tore Celtic apart at the end of a transfer window. But he went and done it the right way by saying 'I am going to put a in a performance and leave the next day after that'.
"That's not going about it the right way by (Igamane) refusing to come on and help your teammates."
