'I wanted to name my baby after a food product but hubby wouldn't consider it'
Nara Smith, who is already mum to three kids with her husband Lucky Blue Smith, has shared the baby names she 'loved' but won't be using - and one is a dairy product
Choosing a baby name can be a tricky task, particularly when you and your partner have differing opinions on what constitutes a good name. Parents ultimately have the final say over their child's name, but it should ideally be a joint decision.
It's crucial to find a middle ground, even if you and your partner have vastly different preferences in names. However, one mum has revealed that she initially wanted to name her child after a well-known dairy product before her husband firmly objected, stating he "didn't like it at all" - and others have agreed that he was right to prevent the woman from using the unique name.
Nara Smith has previously gained online attention for sharing the unusual baby names she and her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, have chosen for their three existing children.
They are parents to daughters named Rumble Honey and Whimsy Lou, as well as a son named Slim Easy.
The woman is currently expecting the couple's fourth child, and created a TikTok video in which she shared some of the baby names that she "loves" but will not be using.
She began by teasing her critics with a made-up name. She said: "The first name is Moonbeam, and the second name is Ice-cream. I think that's so beautiful. I'm just joking - I've seen the comments!"
Nara then went on to share the names she genuinely considered for her fourth child, starting with boy names including Moss, Goody, Sundae, Champ, and Silk. She also made sure to mention that she "really loves" Dare as a boy's name.
She then proceeded to discuss girls' names, which she asserted were "harder" to devise than boys' names. However, one name she adored that her husband wouldn't even consider was "Butter".
Nara elaborated: "A name that I love that Lucky does not like at all so it didn't even make it into our list is Butter."
The mum also revealed she had contemplated Twinkle, Velvet, Button, Willowmere, Berry, Merit, and Shimmer.
She mentioned she had thought about naming her child Apple, but decided against it as it's "been used before", for instance by Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, who have a 21-year-old daughter named Apple Martin.
Viewers of Nara's video were perplexed by her unconventional names. Many expressed disbelief that Nara had bestowed such unique names on her children and insisted she was using pseudonyms to safeguard their identities.
One individual commented: "I wonder if she's joking ... maybe those are fake names to protect their real identities."
Another added: "Plot twist, this is all a joke and the kids have actual names and she's just using these to protect the children."
However, there were some viewers who defended Nara's name choices, describing some of her suggestions as "cute". Ultimately, the decision rests with Nara and Lucky regarding what they choose to name their child.
One person commented: "Velvet is kinda cute."
Another chimed in: "Moss and Velvet not too bad as far as Nara Smith baby names go."
