Igamane out and Miovski in as Lille to test Rangers £9m transfer resolve amid striker domino effect
The French side have been tracking the Moroccan striker throughout the summer and time is running out for a deal
Lille are ready to up the ante with a bid of around £9million for Hamza Igamane - which could also free up the cash for Rangers to make a permanent move for Bojan Miovski.
The French side had a bid for the Moroccan international - who allegedly refused to come off the bench against St Mirren - turned down last week, but have since re-opened talks.
Lille are understood to be willing to make a bid of around £9million with the potential for another £3million in add-ons to land Igamane.
Rangers have been looking for a fee closer to the £15million mark but the Ligue 1 outfit are unlikely to go that high.
It will leave Rangers with a decision to make on if they cut their losses and use the money to bring in a replacement.
Igamane is keen to make the move and the situation has been helped by Russell Martin’s public claims that he didn’t go on against St Mirren because he was injured.
It hasn’t helped relationships ahead of their Champions League qualifier with Brugge.
Rangers sporting director Kevin Thelwell has a list of striking options drawn up should Igamane or any of his other strikers move before the close of the window.
Girona striker Miovski is one of those options. Rangers have asked the question about a loan but Record Sport understands that the Macedonian international is looking for a permanent exit from his current Spanish employers.
He is also waiting to see if other interest materialises. The former Aberdeen striker has fallen down the pecking order with the La Liga side and would prefer a parting of the ways.
Girona would be looking to recoup the majority of the club record sale of £6.8 million they paid to the Dons last year.
Miovski was linked with a move to play with Martin under Southampton, although ironically it was the manager who blocked it.
Former Saints head of recruitment Darren Mowbray wanted to take him to St Mary’s but Martin wasn’t sure if he would cut it in the English Premier League.
This time he knows that he is tried and tested in the Scottish Premiership.
Former club Aberdeen would have been interested in a loan but couldn’t financially get near his wages for a permanent move.
Rangers haș previously held talks with Israel striker Dor Turgeman but were unable to sell a striker in time and now he has since joined New England Revolution.
Rangers are also looking to see what options are available for Nedim Bajrami, Leon King and Clinton Nsiala before the close of the window.
Motherwell are amongst a number of clubs interested in Bailey Rice but Rangers want him to sign a new deal before that can happen.
The midfielder is out-of-contract in the summer. Meanwhile, upcoming midfielder Calum Adamson is set to join Alloa Athletic on a cooperation loan.
