ITV Emmerdale fans only just realising Kelvin Fletcher's young daughter stars in rival soap
Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher is best known for playing Andy Sugden in the ITV soap but his daughter Marnie has followed in his acting footsteps and appeared in a rival soap.
Emmerdale's Kelvin Fletcher, best known for his role in the ITV soap, is bursting with pride as his seven-year-old daughter Marnie follows in his acting footsteps.
However, she's not joining her dad on the Dales but has instead landed a role on rival soap, Hollyoaks. Marnie has joined the cast of the Channel 4 soap as Lexi Roscoe, the daughter of fan-favourite character Freddie Roscoe, played by Charlie Clapham.
Freddie returned to the show last year after a seven-year absence and is keen to build a relationship with Lexi, who was born in 2016 shortly before her mum Lindsey Butterfield was murdered by serial killer Silas Blissett, portrayed by Jeff Rawle.
Off-screen, Kelvin, who played Andy Sugden on Emmerdale until 2016, confessed that he was "beaming with pride" after watching his daughter's scenes, Cheshire Live reports.
He even accompanied Marnie to the set of Hollyoaks as her chaperone, stating that seeing her perform was "one of the very few times I've felt completely fulfilled".
The former Strictly Come Dancing champion also admitted that his young daughter is starting to eclipse him in the acting world.
She secured her role on Hollyoaks in the same week that he missed out on two jobs after being in the acting industry for almost 25 years.
Kevin, 35, was cast on Emmerdale as teenager Andy Hopwood when he was just 12.
Despite only initially being signed up for three episodes, he went on to star in the soap for 20 years in over 1500 episodes, eventually taking on his fictional adoptive family surname Sugden.
Sharing his pride with his fans, Kelvin posted a clip of Marnie's performance as Lexi on social media, captioning it: "Marnie made her TV acting debut last week as she joined the fantastic cast of Hollyoaks.
"I was her 'chaperone' and I can't begin to tell you the emotions I felt standing there watching.
"To be standing behind the camera, watching my 7yr old daughter act for the first time in front of the camera, brought so many feelings back to when I first started acting.
"It felt so surreal to be there witnessing it all again but this time, as a parent. My heart was beaming with pride and it was genuinely one of the very few times I've felt completely fulfilled."
Kelvin concluded: "To see your child find their passion and chase that feeling is one of the most beautiful and inspiring things to behold. What a moment for me and more importantly, what a moment for her. Well done darling."
The star quipped: "P.S. The same week she got that casting, I didn't get two! Typical."
Fans were treated to a clip of Marnie as Lexi having an on-screen heart-to-heart with her on-screen dad, Freddie Roscoe, during a school scene.
