Jimmy Thelin has urged the Red Army to keep the pyro out of Pittodrie.

It comes after the Dons, along with Celtic and Partick Thistle, were hit with charges by the Scottish Football League chiefs.

The Red Shed is facing partial closure if there is anymore pyrotechnics set off before the end of the season and Thelin has urged his fans not to sell their team short.

He said: “We try to do it together so that everyone is allowed to go to the games in the future. They (Red Shed) create a great atmosphere.

“Just follow these rules so that everyone can come to every game because we need everyone there. We need all the supporters be allowed to be at Pittodrie.”

The Dons take on Celtic at home on Sunday for the first time since they lifted the Scottish Cup and denied the Hoops a Treble.

It was a big moment for the Dons to finally get one over on Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Thelin said: “Yes. It is always important to win difficult games against Celtic during the season.

“We had one draw away, we lost 1-0 at home and then it was quite big losses in the other games.

“In that moment we knew we needed to change something for the final.

“In that time it was our time to win so let’s see what happens on Sunday.”

The Swede changed his tactics for Hampden and got the better of Rodgers’ men, just after they had been dismantled 5-1 at Pittodrie in the league.

Thelin, when asked how he turned it around, answered: “It is better to ask the players maybe.

“We were really focused and changed some tactics and strategy in the game and created a belief around that.

“Sometimes it happens that you need some luck also of course but it was all really aligned.

“A strong belief inside the club that day for the final from the chairman to everybody else.

“That was the really unifying situation, the effort of the players and the confidence going into the penalties, also the saves from Dimi of course.”

Aberdeen are also edging closer to who they will face in the Europa League play-off.

They play the winners of the FCSB and Drita tie. Thelin watched the Romanians come out on top in a five-goal thriller.

“The match was changing quite a lot as they were 2-0 down and then it turned around to 3-2,” Thelin admitted.
