Kate and Rio Ferdinand quit UK for Dubai as they show off lavish new mansion
Kate Ferdinand and her husband Rio Ferdinand announced they have moved to Dubai as they start a 'new chapter' of their life with their children.
Kate Ferdinand has shared exciting news, announcing that she and husband Rio Ferdinand have moved to Dubai with their kids. On Instagram, she offered followers a peek inside their new home, calling it a 'new chapter' for the family.
The couple, Rio, 46, and Kate, 33, moved from Bromley in South East London to the sunny United Arab Emirates - a move which Katie said they had been discussing for quite some time.
The 33-year-old shared a series of stunning snaps of their new scenery, including a photo looking onto the famous Burj Khalifa building with three of their children, the Mirror reports. The couple share two children together, son Cree, four, and daughter Shae, two, as well as Lorenz, 16, Tate, 16 and Tia, 13, who Rio had in his marriage to late wife Rebecca Ellison.
Kate captioned the post: "A new chapter, a fresh start - because if we don’t try, we’ll never know. Ahhh! We’ve talked about this for so long, and now it’s finally real… we’re here, we are making a new home in the place we met!"
"Missing some of our specials already & a bit scared, excited & nervous — but more than anything, ready for fresh starts and new beginnings," she continued.
The couple have a soft spot for Dubai, as that is where Rio and former TOWIE star Kate met almost a decade ago. They were introduced by a mutual friend and Rio even proposed to Kate in Abu Dhabi two years later.
A source told The Sun that the Middle East offers plenty of opportunities for the family. They stated: "It holds a special place in their hearts as that’s where they met and both could easily travel back and forth for their work commitments in the UK.
"As well as his sporting success, Rio has a huge business portfolio now and there is lots of potential in the Middle East."
It was previously revealed that Kate and Rio were planning to start a fresh chapter by leaving the UK for good. Sources said they would still travel back and forth to the UK for work commitments. Additionally a move to Dubai will greatly help with Rio's business developments.
The couple were also reportedly searching for a school in Dubai for their children. A source revealed earlier this year: "Rio and Kate are seriously considering being based out in the Gulf and are looking for a sprawling home with plenty of bedrooms.
"They love the lifestyle and sunny weather and have lots of friends out there. It's a very safe place for families and offers a healthy lifestyle, which suits them well."
The insider continued: "It holds a special place in their hearts as that's where they met and both could easily travel back and forth for their work commitments in the UK."
Kate and Rio spent New Year's Eve in Dubai, showing their love for the place. Kate, at the time, captioned the post: "Rio & I met 8 years ago yesterday."
"Who would have thought that fast forward to now we would be back in the place we met, married, with 2 more beautiful children, 5 in total."
She continued: "It's crazy to think that a chance meeting, and so many hurdles thrown our way we would be ready to see in the new year as a family of 7 (just missing our Lorenz)."
Kate and Rio began dating in 2016 and tied the knot three years later. They welcomed son Cree in 2020 and daughter Shae in 2023. Rio also has three children - Lorenz, Tate and Tia - from his first marriage to Rebecca Ellison, who sadly passed away from breast cancer in 2015.
The couple have enjoyed many memorable holidays in Dubai. After a recent trip, Kate shared on social media: “Dubai recap with my specials.”
Their two young children appear to be thriving in the UAE, enjoying time together in the sea and holding hands as they explore the city's lavish streets.
