Leanne Crichton 'reeling' after Rangers home debut as Hearts scale the fortress to deal boss early blow
It was Crichton's first time in the Ibrox dugout and Hearts spoiled the party for the new Rangers boss
Eilidh Shore's last-gasp leveller gave Hearts a point at Ibrox – just days after Leanne Crichton said she wanted to make the ground a fortress.
Eva Olid’s side had led after Olufolasade Adamolekun’s first-half opener but two goals in as many second-half minutes from Katie Wilkinson had given Rangers the lead.
Shore struck two minutes from time to give Hearts a point with Crichton irked that they didn’t hold out for all three.
And the former Scotland star said: “It’s one of those games where we come away reeling it’s a draw.
“We trailed for a large part of the game but the response and application in the second-half was there.
“The turnaround was exceptional. I felt the energy and desire and commitment was there all over the pitch.
“When you turn the scoreline around and get your noses in front, the frustration from us is that we have been unable to control the game.
“Credit to Hearts as well for chasing it and getting back level but we are disappointed.
“The players took responsibility (at the break). They recognised where we were going wrong. I was proud of the second-half performance.”
Crichton also accepted it is early days given the fact she was appointed Light Blues boss less than a fortnight before the league campaign kicked off.
She said: “It’s match day two and I haven’t been in the door long in terms of the work we’re trying to do.
“We are a bit lighter so they went above and beyond and gave everything. A couple of fixes and a little bit of detail. We are disappointed not have taken three points.”
Elsewhere Celtic beat Hamilton 5-0 to keep up their 100 per cent start to the season.
Saoirse Noonan, Momo Nakao, Maria McAneny, Morgan Cross and Darra Dawson all found the net.
Boss Elena Sadiku said: “I am happy with the attacking play and how many chances we created. It is five goals, a clean sheet and a first win at home so I’m happy with that.
“We have things we can say we need to do better. That is the biggest focus for next week ahead of the game against Partick Thistle.”
Paul Brownlie’s Motherwell were hammered 4-1 by Montrose. Sophia Martin and Kaela McDonald-Nguah, the former Well player, each bagged two in Montrose’s first win of the season.
Glasgow City and Hibs also maintained their perfect starts ahead of this week’s Champions League ties.
City beat Aberdeen 1-0 on Saturday afternoon while Hibs beat Partick Thistle 5-0 on Friday night.
Grant Scott’s side flew out to Cyprus yesterday to prepare for Wednesday night’s game against Danish champions Fortuna Hjorring.
Also on Wednesday, Glasgow City take on Austria Vienna as they look to make it to the new league format.
