Man arrested and charged over Glasgow 'robbery' after worker left in hospital

The alleged incident happened at around 9pm on Saturday August 16 at a corner shop on Hawthorn Street in Springburn.

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery at a shop in Glasgow.


The alleged incident happened at around 9pm on Saturday August 16 at a corner shop on Hawthorn Street in Springburn.


A 24-year-old shop keeper was rushed to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment as the suspect fled the scene.


On Sunday, more than a week later, police confirmed a 31-year-old man was arrested and charged.

He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday August 25.


A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery at a shop in Glasgow.

"Around 9.05pm on Saturday, 16 August, 2025 we received a report of an assault and robbery at a premises in Hawthorn Street.

"A 24-year-old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

"The 31-year-old man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, 25 August, 2025."
