Air fryers are popular kitchen appliances designed to cook food by circulating hot air around it. They mimic the results of deep frying but with significantly less oil. Despite using less oil, they can still be very messy to clean, especially if you are cooking greasy food.

Not only are air fryers cheaper to run than a conventional oven, but they also make it easier to prepare healthier meals and are much faster to cook with. Figuring out the proper way to clean this appliance is often a puzzle and sometimes a task that householders delay until they really have to.

Properly cleaning your air fryer is essential, not just for hygiene but also for safety. If air fryers are not thoroughly cleaned, this could increase the risk of a damaging fire.

According to the Express, if you're looking for a simple solution to make your air fryer gleam, one savvy lady has shared her budget-friendly trick.

These versatile and efficient cleaning aids are a must-have for anyone after swift and straightforward cleaning hacks.

Not only do they make dishwashing effortless, but they’re also ace for sprucing up other areas of the home and different appliances, including air fryers.

Asda sells a pack on 40 dishwasher tablets for £3.38 which equates to about 8 pence per tablet.

Adrianna posted a snap of her spotless air fryer basket, captioning it: “Whoever said using a dishwasher tablet for the air fryer is a lifesaver.

“The pieces of food stuck to the tray were impossible to remove with just scrubbing.”

She added: “Just a five-minute soak with boiling hot water, a rinse and wipe and the job was done. The grease had just melted away.”

“I don’t even have a dishwasher, but picked these up very cheap and thought they could be used for some cleaning hacks I’ve seen on this page.”

The blend of enzymes, alkalis, and surfactants in these tablets is excellent for tackling grease stains, food marks, and even unpleasant smells.

These elements are not only great for dishwashing but can also combat grease, food, and odours elsewhere.

Express.co.uk previously tested this air fryer cleaning trick, which uses a dishwasher tablet, and found it to be highly effective.

The air fryer basket appeared as good as new, devoid of food remnants without the need for scrubbing—and it didn't take much time at all.

Another simple solution to get your air fryer looking as good as new is to use warm water, a mild washing up liquid and a soft sponge after each use.

This method ensures you don't damage the sensitive non-stick coating while effectively removing grease and food debris.

The UK Cleaning Supplies method suggests: "Clean each part with warm water and washing-up liquid solution, using the soft side of the sponge or cloth to avoid damaging the non-stick coating. Ensure thorough cleaning by working into the gaps of the basket."
