Royal Antwerp manager Stef Wils has all-but confirmed that Celtic are set to finally land Michel-Ange Balikwisha.

The transfer saga has dragged on throughout the last three transfer windows but a £4.5million move now appears to be sealed with the Hoops in dire need of transfer.

Brendan Rodgers has emphasised the need to more firepower at Celtic this summer - with the wide areas in need of strengthening.

Nicolas Kuhn joined Como in a £17.2million deal - and Jota is sidelined until next year.

And with Balikwisha in talks over a long-term contract in Glasgow's east end, the forward was left out of the 2-1 win over Mechelen alongside Manchester United bound Senne Lammens.

Asked about the decision to drop the key duo, Wils told Voetbal Primeur: "The same applies to both players.

"There are discussions at club level as well as with the players. That's why I thought it wiser to leave them out of the squad."

The search for a left-back to compete with Kieran Tierney this season also appears to be gathering pace amid talks with Boca Juniors over Marcelo Saracchi from Boca Juniors.

Reports in Argentina have claimed the that the Uruguayan international believes a move to Glasgow's east end is "his best option" and his inner circle have told Boca he wants to make the switch.

Radio Gol report that talks have taken a step forward over a one-year loan with a fee and a purchase option.

It is claimed that the initial offer to buy from the Scottish champions had fallen below the valuation player - but the "proposal has been adjusted" with the Argentine giants now "willing to release the player."

However, it is noted that the final decision over the future of the 27-year-old lie with boss Miguel Ángel Russo - despite the player recently dropping to the fringes of the squad.

Earlier this summer, the defender had been on the brink of a move to Independiente before Russo opted to give Saracchi another look at the Club World Cup. Following his involvement in the tournament, he has not featured for Boca again.
