Michel Ange Balikwisha to Celtic transfer triggers four man signing frenzy but Calvin Stengs hopes fade

It's set to be a busy final week of the transfer window at Parkhead as the clock ticks down to Deadline Day

Celtic's hopes of landing Feyenoord star Calvin Stengs appear to be fading - with two clubs ready to hijack a possible deal.

The Hoops have been heavily linked with the Netherlands international, who has fallen out of favour under Robin van Persie.

It's believed the Eredivisie club would be willing to do business at around £5.1million for a player they signed from Nice in 2023.

Brendan Rodgers has made no secret of the fact he desperately needs to bolster his attacking options after losing Nicolas Kuhn and Kyogo, plus Jota to injury.

But De Telegraaf reports that Leicester City and Italian outfit Pisa have emerged as stronger contenders for his signature.

Feyenoord are keen to get Stengs, 26, off their wage bill and the winger hasn't been involved in any of the club's opening four competitive matches so far this season.

Celts have yet to officially make contact with Feyenoord over a possible deal, but Stengs does have other options to leave before September 1.

Whether Stengs pitches up in Glasgow or not, it's poised to be a busy final week of the transfer window for Celtic.

Belgian winger Michael-Ange Balikwisha is on the verge of completing his £4.5m move after bidding farewell to Royal Antwerp fans on Sunday night.

The 24-year-old was given a fitting send-off as he waved goodbye to supporters at the end of the 2-1 win over Mechelen. Balikwisha wasn't involved in the matchday squad, but emerged on the park at full-time for an emotional hooray.

It's expected the lightning-quick attacker will be one of at least FOUR new faces in the door at Celtic Park as the Hoops accelerate their transfer plans.

Another wide man and main striker is top of Rodgers' wishlist, while a left-back is also a priority.

The Scottish champions are currently locked in talks with Boca Juniors over a loan agreement for Uruguay international Marcelo Saracchi.

Sarrachi, 27, is viewed as an ideal deputy for Kieran Tierney and both clubs are in negotiations over an option to buy fee.

There could also be some outgoings too, with Bolton Wanderers refusing to give up on their pursuit of Johnny Kenny.

The Irish striker recently penned a new contract with the Hoops and scored his first Parkhead goal in Saturday's 3-0 rout of Livingston.

However, Rodgers has refused to rule out the possibility of sending the 22-year-old out on loan, if he adds more firepower.

Marco Tilio is also finalising a £1.5m switch to Rapid Vienna, while Stephen Welsh is likely to depart either on loan or permanently.
