Netflix's Wednesday fans share huge Lady Gaga plot theory as star missing from first part of season 2
Wednesday season 2 part one was released on Netflix yesterday but fans were disappointed to discover that Lady Gaga does not feature in the first four episodes of the show.
Netflix's Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega is back with a bang for season two with the first part of the eight-part season already in the number one spot on the streaming platform's top 10 list after just 24 hours. However, fans were disappointed to discover that Lady Gaga does not star in the first part of the show, which was released on Wednesday August 6.
The Poker Face hitmaker was listed as part of an exciting series of guest stars who were being added to the cast. Other names included Thandiwe Newton, Christopher Lloyd and Haley Joel Osment, all of whom appear in the first part of the season, with Gaga nowhere to be seen.
Details of the singer's appearance have been kept under top secret over at Netflix HQ with no official show stills yet of her character. The Star is Born actress is confirmed to be playing Rosaline Rotwood, who's described as a ‘legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday’.
However, fans will have to patiently wait for her guest appearance in the second part of season two, which is set to drop in September.
Wednesday viewers are also keen to hear Gaga's new song Dead Dance, which will feature in the show next month as fans have speculated that it could be a major element in trying to replicate season one’s viral dance moment.
Taking to X to share their theories, a Lady Gaga fan account suggested: "What if Enid dies and Wednesday search for how to make her alive and finds Gaga’s character and she tells her she has to do a DEAD DANCE to make her not dead anymore.
‘"Gaga and Jenna do it together, works for viral moments."
Another fan echoed this sentiment as they wrote: "Maybe another Bloody Mary like situation is going to happen with Dead Dance? I can imagine Gaga & Jenna’s characters having a viral moment in the series while the song is being played."
While Wednesday fans have already polished off the first four episodes, many were left frustrated that the season had been split in half and that they would need to wait even longer for Gaga's arrival.
One questioned on X: "Is Gaga in the first half of Wednesday or not?"
Another wrote :"Watching Wednesday… where is GAGA."
A third fumed: "If Lady Gaga Is in Part 2, then I’ll wait to resubscribe to Netflix in September".
A fourth dramatically stated: "Just watched Wednesday and Lady Gaga is not in the first part and my entire life ruined in that moment now I have to wait till September."
Gaga's feature in the show was confirmed back in May when she stepped out at a Netflix fan event in Los Angeles for a Wednesday-themed performance of Zombieboy from her album Mayhem.
Wednesday co-creator Alfred Gough revealed that Gaga’s guest appearance came about as a result of the first season's viral dance (with moves inspired by Siouxsie Sioux and Bob Fosse, among others), which TikTokers set to her deep cut track Bloody Mary and was credited with the show becoming a smash hit, the Metro reports.
Gough told The Hollywood Reporter. she said: "She was interested, we were interested. ‘But she’s Lady Gaga, she’s very busy. So we were able to work out a character for her to play, a time for her to come and do it.
"We all know she’s an amazing actress, so we were just thrilled that she could come and play in the sandbox."
Meanwhile, Ortega described Lady Gaga as ‘unbelievably sweet and giving’.
The 22-year-old also hinted that Gaga’s screen appearance may just be a brief affair as she told E! News: "To be able to spend a day with her shooting was an absolute dream."
In the same interview, Catherine Zeta-Jones said: "I think just having her presence on the isle of Ireland just lifted everybody up. She’s a queen. She’s on the level to be in her presence for any amount of time is very memorable."
Wednesday season 2 is available to watch on Netflix now with the second part arriving on September 3.
