Peter Kay has faced criticism from some of his supporters, who have slated the comedian for delivering a substandard show during his Better Late Than Never tour.

The Bolton-born entertainer, 52, who has faced heckling throughout the sold-out tour that kicked off in December 2022, has been blasted by certain ticket-holders who claim they've waited 12 years to witness Peter perform live once more, only to be served up 'recycled' material.

One individual likened the performance to a night at holiday camp Pontins, whilst another suggested the show's comedy was becoming 'outdated' and 'stale'.

Concert-goers voiced their concerns about the performances on TikTok, with one person questioning: "Was it just me - or was Peter Kay not worth the two year wait?".

Alongside a video clip from the show, they wrote: "Booked tickets two years ago. Drove all the way from Plymouth to Manchester," reports the Mirror.

"We were excited, buzzing... but honestly? Peter Kay just didn't deliver. We expected a comedian - not a musical with random singalongs."

Discussing the segment of Peter's act where he performs advertising jingles for sweets including 'a Mars a day helps you work, rest and play' alongside 'a finger of Fudge is just enough', the specific TikTok user seemed unimpressed.

Others echoed the same sentiment, with one viewer admitting they'd abandoned the show during the interval, posting: "Left at half time in Belfast a few weeks ago, couldn't understand the funny side of singing 80s TV adverts for two hours lol."

In response, another queried: "Did he mention Spangles and Texan choc bars? That's his entire act."

Meanwhile, others voiced their disappointment: "When I went to see him, he didn't stop talking about his dead nana. Been a huge Peter Kay fan since he came on the scene, but I have to agree. We saw this show in Glasgow a couple of years back and it was awful."

However, some viewers adore the show and have lauded Peter for his sharp wit and unique perspective on everyday life, which has catapulted him into one of the nation's most successful comedians.

Dismissing the criticism as just a "TikTok thing", one fan stated: "Think this is a TikTok thing, seems the in thing to say Peter Kay is c**p.'

Others contended: "Hard for comedians... not allowed to say anything for fear of being seen as offensive. ""Blame the mardy a**e woke snowflakes, not Peter Kay.

"It might not have been great but if you don't think Peter Kay is an iconic comedian, then comedy is completely lost on you."

In March this year, Peter Kay angrily stopped his performance on one of his tour shows by telling a heckler to jump from his box seat and telling them that the audience will “knock the f*** out of you”.

The Phoenix Nights funny man interrupted a sell-out show to call out a group of hecklers and order them to be thrown out. The group of rowdy men - who he labelled "kn******* and cheeky monkeys" were eventually escorted out.
