Rangers close in on three transfers as Miovski message followed by instant £3.5m Dessers update
Martin wants to refresh his forward line before the window closes but it may all hinge on how Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane's futures play out
Cyriel Dessers could still be in line for a Rangers exit before the window closes – with reports in Italy saying Hellas Verona are keen on a £3.5m deal.
The Nigeria international has been subject to plenty of interest this summer and Russell Martin openly admitted after their draw with St Mirren that Dessers has been honest about his desire to pursue a move away.
Unlike the bubbling situation with Hamza Igamane, where Martin will now be keen to sell as soon as possible, he's had nothing but kind words to say about Dessers who he says has been a model professional throughout the protracted transfer saga.
But that doesn't change the fact that, should an acceptable offer come in, then all parties are very much open to a move.
AEK Athens had been most heavily linked with Dessers and had a bid rejected earlier in the window but now Calcio Hellas report that Hellas Verona are showing a firm interest.
They're said to be encouraged by Rangers' openness to selling and, while they don't want to purchase him now, they feel a loan deal with the obligation to buy next summer could seal the deal.
Rangers are claimed to be pursuing £3.5m for his sale, though Hellas believe that could drop as the window ticks towards the finish line.
Moving Dessers on may give Rangers the wiggle room to pursue a permanent deal for Bojan Miovski, who has told them he doesn't want any loan move without the guarantee of a transfer at the end of it.
It's believed the former Aberdeen striker was keen to stay at Girona but, having been told he isn't part of their plans for the early part of the season, a return to Scotland could offer him a route out of a spell in La Liga that has been something of a nightmare since his £6.8m move last summer.
But whether Rangers are willing to lock themselves into a purchase remains to be seen – and may well depend on what type of deal they can strike for their outgoing fringe men.
Dessers, currently returning from injury, is perhaps the most highly rated of the bomb squad Martin put on notice on Sunday. But one man who doesn't appear to rank as highly in the boss' thinking is Nedim Bajrami.
The Albanian just hasn't impressed Martin and, after being left out of the squad for the draw in Paisley, he posted a cryptic black-and-white snap of himself on Instagram at full-time, which was quickly deleted.
He appears to have little future and social media rumours are suggesting Sevilla and Udinese are both keen on his services.
It's added that a fee somewhere in the region of £3-£4m will be enough to lure him away – suggesting Rangers are prepared to sell so long as they break even on the £3.4m they paid for him a year ago.
