Rangers see transfer bid for target rejected as club insiders left 'baffled' at Ibrox offer knockback
The Light Blues and West Ham had lodged offers for the highly-rated 20-year-old
Rangers have reportedly had a bid rejected for Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce Charles.
And the decision is said to have BAFFLED insiders at the cash-strapped Championship club.
Russell Martin has already swooped on the Owls by landing flying machine Djeidi Gassama earlier this summer.
Gassama has been an instant hit at Ibrox, netting four goals in the Champions League to move Gers within touching distance of the playoffs.
Keeper Jack Butland has also been instrumental in helping Gers negotiate tough ties against Panathinakos and Viktoria Plzen.
But according to the Telegraph, the Light Blues are in the market for another shotstopper.
It's claimed that Hillsborough chiefs have knocked back £1million-plus bids from both Rangers and West Ham for highly-rated Charles.
Financially-stricken Wednesday are struggling for cash and wages for players and staff have been late four months out of five.
Controversial owner Dejphon Chansiri is under pressure to sell the club but has thrown out multiple offers for 20-year-old Charles.
It remains to be seen whether Rangers or the Hammers will return to the negotiating table with an improved bid.
Northern Ireland international Charles has enjoyed a rapid rise to stardom at Hillsborough and is under contract for another two years.
