Rangers transfer state of play as £11m Miovski alternative emerges with Girona striker 'unhappy' at Ibrox loan terms

It's all happening in Rangers' hunt for a new striker and two frontmen are being explored

Everton striker Youssef Chermiti is reportedly on Rangers' radar as potential alternative to Bojan Miovski.

Russell Martin's hunt for a new frontman ramped up today with the news that a deal for Miovski, who left Aberdeen for Girona in a £6m deal a year ago, is being explored.

That's likely to be a loan initially with Girona not yet ready to cut ties entirely after their investment 12 months ago.

Whether or not Miovski is willing to return to Scotland on loan is of course another matter and the latest from Filip Mishov suggests some doubt there.

He claims the North Macedonia striker has been unhappy at being bombed out of the squad to face Villarreal and only wants to leave if a permanent deal, or a loan with an obligation, can be struck.

But if that one is in doubt, then there's another striker in the frame.

The Rangers Review say Chermiti, for whom Everton paid around £11m for in 2023, is another target on the agenda.

He's. struggled to adapt in his two years at Everton and, now 21, they are willing to send him out on loan.

The connection there is new Gers sporting director Kevin Thelwell, who was still at the Merseyside club when they signed Chermiti from Sporting CP. He's said to be one of the driving factors behind a potential deal and is keen to bring him to Ibrox.

Chermiti has played 24 times for Everton but only started three times, none of which came last season.

He previously impressed for Sporting as a teenager though and remains highly-rated at Everton.

It's generally expected that deals for Chermiti, Miovski or both will only be explored once the futures of Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane are resolved.

Both have had plenty of interest this summer but have yet to see acceptable bids land and, as things stand, Martin is prepared to go into the season with that pair and Danilo as his strikers.

But the preference would be to strike a sale to allow them to move in for one of their targets.
