Scots have shared their memories of the iconic T in the Park, with it now being close to a decade since it last graced the festival scene. Those who attended the festival years ago say they "miss" it.

T in the Park was a major music event held in Scotland between 1994 and 2016. Initially hosted at Strathclyde Park in Lanarkshire, it moved to the disused Balado airfield in Perth and Kinross in 1997 and again in 2015 to Strathallan Castle.

Over the years, the festival saw countless legendary musicians and bands take the stage. Arctic Monkeys, Eminem, Calvin Harris, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Coldplay, Rage Against the Machine, Daft Punk, Blur, Radiohead, Björk, and many others performed at T in the Park.

In 2017, the festival was officially cancelled and replaced with TRNSMT festival at Glasgow Green. In July 2019, organiser Geoff Ellis stated that T in the Park would not return.

On Sunday, August 24, one former T in the Park attendee took to Reddit to reminisce about the festival. Posting on the website's Scotland community, they wrote: "Watching clips from Reading/Leeds and talking to my kids about how good T In The Park was with stories suitable for the young team.

"I’m not sure if it’s just a wee bit of looking at things with rose tinted glasses but it really was some of the best times I had. The acts that were playing, the folk that I went with, even the challenging weather."

Since being shared, the post has received more than 65 comments. Fellow Scots were quick to share their memories of the legendary festival.

One Reddit user wrote: "I really miss it too, would love to go back, I have some pretty awesome memories from T. It’s a shame as I don’t feel like we have anything close to it anymore."

Another echoed: "I have seen so many things at T that are forever etched in my brain."

A third stated: "Went three years on the trot at Balado 04/05/06 ,seen some fantastic bands. Gutted on two occasions when The White Stripes and Bowie cancelled but I absolutely loved it.

"Seen Coldplay, Pixies, Muse, Bloc Party, Green Day and loads more."

Other users argued that TRNSMT in Glasgow cannot compete with the previous festival, with one writing: "T in the Park felt like a lot better value for money back in the day.

"The sheer amount and calibre of bands/artists it attracted is just so much better than TRNSMT."

A second agreed: "Same, TRNSMT is *****. Line-ups are shocking. Madness that Scotland doesn’t have a decent large festival anymore."

Meanwhile, other previous T in the Park attendees stated that they were not keen on the festival's final home at Strathallan Castle.

One posted: "T was incredible until it moved to Strathallan. Would pay a lot of money to experience a Balado weekend again!"

Another wrote: "I experienced it at Strathclyde park and at Balado. I never bothered once it moved to the last place and glad that I have the (vague) memories to remind me of how good it was in those days."

A third said: "There was a dip after it moved. I think they’d make an absolute fortune if they brought it back to Balado."
