Steven Gerrard nails Rangers colours to the mast as he sounds famous Ibrox rally cry
The former Gers boss hasn't been shy in actively showing his support for the club on social media
Steven Gerrard didn't think the time was right to return to Ibrox.
But the man who delivered 55 certainly has Rangers in his blood.
Gerrard hasn't been shy in showing his support for Gers on social media in recent years.
The Liverpool legend - who spent three-and-a-half years in Govan - regularly posts about the club on his Instagram account.
Whether it be throwback pictures or subtle nods, Gerrard clearly still remains a fan from afar in Bahrain.
Last night, the legendary midfielder was flying back to the Middle East with his wife Alex and two of his four children - Lio and Lourdes.
Gerrard shared snaps of the journey back to Bahrain - with young boy Lio, eight, kitted out in the new Rangers home jersey.
And in one of the captions, Gerrard scribbled his famous Rangers slogan "Let's go" along a smiling face with sunglasses emoji.
Those words, remarked on the day he was unveiled, would of course be synonymous with his stint in charge as he eventually ended Celtic's dominance by leading the club to a first title since 2011.
The England idol was in the running to become the permanent successor to Philippe Clement over the summer after leaving Saudi outfit Al Ettifaq.
Gerrard was the heavy favourite with the bookies to return to his old post and was publicly endorsed by Dave King to make a stunning comeback.
It's believed Gerrard’s camp had held initial discussions with the Ibrox club's new American owners.
But the 45-year-old pulled out of the running after opting to stay put in the Middle East with his family for at least 12 more months in what was being described as a ‘lifestyle’ choice - and Russell Martin was eventually appointed.
It was revealed last week that Gerrard was already on the radar of the 49ers Enterprises after Leeds United coach Stewart Downing claimed that he was previously on the NFL investment wing's radar at Elland Road before they appointed Daniel Farke.
