Team Jake Paul get cocky as Anthony Joshua super fight comes with astonishing confidence
The Youtube star-turned fighters camp insist a showdown with Joshua is very much on the cards
Jake Paul's management team have confirmed that discussions over a huge crossover fight with Anthony Joshua are ongoing.
And the Youtuber-turned boxer's camp also claim that the 28-year-old will have no problem weighing in on the heavyweight scales.
Since turning professional in 2020, Paul has won 12 of his 13 bouts, losing a points decision to Tommy Fury two and a half years ago.
His record includes victories over former WBC middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and ageing heavyweight legend Mike Tyson but the American star is yet to share the ring with an active fighter.
Two-time heavyweight world champion Joshua is searching for an opponent later this year as he recovers from an injury picked up in the aftermath of his devastating knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois last September.
And while talk of a long-awaited Joshua v Tyson Fury showdown lingers, Most Valuable Promotions CEO and co-founder Naiksa Bidarian insists their man facing the 2012 Olympic gold medallist at some point this year is genuinely on the cards.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "The fight can absolutely happen. Two of AJ's losses came against (Oleksandr) Usyk. Usyk weighed 220lbs for those fights.
"Jake is not Usyk. But Jake fought (Mike) Tyson at 228lbs.
"So size wise, we can get comfortable. We're actively discussing it."
Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn recently stated that Paul will be in for a rude awakening if he decides to step into the ring with big-hitter Joshua.
He told talkSPORT: "Look, he’s calling out Gervonta Davis, who is a 135-pound lightweight, and he’s calling out Anthony Joshua, that’s a heavyweight monster.
"I think Jake Paul is crazy enough to fight Anthony Joshua because the money would be absolutely obscene.
"It’s a catastrophic mismatch that people would tune in to watch because it would lead to the end of Jake Paul.
"Hopefully, not literally, but it’s that dangerous.
"It’s a fight that I don’t think should really happen if I’m honest."
