Tiger Woods and Justin Timberlake are gearing up to launch their new sports bar in St Andrews in the coming weeks.

The famous pair's business venture, T-Squared Social, is transforming the old 1930s cinema in the New Picture House into a lively social hub, complete with a two-screen cinema, bar, sports simulators, ten-pin bowling and darts.

In July, Fife Council granted the company permission to refurbish the cinema as part of its plans to provide a much-needed social spot for both students and locals.

It's understood that the renovation work is nearing completion. T-Squared Social confirmed to The Courier that it will reopen in just a few weeks with a soft launch.

The B-listed cinema, which is a stone's throw from the iconic Old Course where Woods has twice lifted the Claret Jug, closed last September for the extensive refurbishment. However, the work has taken longer than anticipated, with the bar now set to open either at the end of next month or the beginning of October, reports the Scottish Daily Express.

The new business was hoping to had open the venue in Spring 2025

Timberlake and Woods are planning a soft launch of the venue to help establish the brand in its first UK location and gather data ahead of an official launch.

The well-kent duo first announced the plans in 2023 and opened their first venue in New York in September of that year.

At the time they revealed their proposals, the refurbishment was expected to cost around £450,000, with the aim of preserving one of the screens and upgrading the seating and technology in the venue to enhance the experience.

The cinema's owner supported the business venture at the time, stating that the group would create a "fun, family-friendly" destination all under one roof.

Woods has enjoyed some of his greatest moments in the Fife town, winning The Open there in 2000 and 2005, and said he wanted to support the local community.

He said previously: "I have been fortunate enough to enjoy many special moments here at St. Andrews. We all wanted to bring our T-Squared Social concept to St Andrews to add to the local community and be a welcoming place for those living in St. Andrews and for visitors alike.

"The idea for T-Squared Social came to us during a round of golf at Albany, our development in The Bahamas. Justin and I thought it would be cool to create a place that combines our favorite things and brings people together to just have a great time.

"We always knew we wanted to do something together, and NEXUS gave us the platform to bring our idea to life in New York City and now St. Andrews."

Timberlake, 44, added: "I've come to St Andrews many times to play golf including to compete in The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. I'm honoured to be able to invest in the town and bring our second T-Squared Social here.

"Our new venue is so much more than a typical sports bar experience, it's a place you can go to be entertained without sacrificing quality or comfort."

Glossy photographs of Woods on the golf course and Timberlake in concert will adorn the walls of the bar and there will also be customised golf bags inscribed with their names and a selection of branded-merchandise and coasters etched with their signatures.

David Morris, managing director of the New Picture House, said: "Since opening for the first time in 1930, the New Picture House has been an integral part of the town's entertainment base.

"The planned T-Squared Social investment will enable the local community, students and visitors, the opportunity to experience a broader range of cinema, dining and entertainment at the popular venue.

"This unique investment opportunity will secure greater employment opportunities and the long-term future of the venue. We are excited to welcome Tiger Woods and Justin Timberlake to St. Andrews.

"The New Picture House will continue to operate as usual until further notice. The directors look forward to supporting T-Squared Social with their development plans and to welcoming new and existing customers into the New Picture House on completion of the redevelopment works."
