Top 10 most unique funeral songs from Jaws theme to Highway To Hell

These tunes are certainly not the usual candidates for a funeral send-off.

Funerals are a chance to celebrate the lives of our lost ones, reminiscing on our most cherished memories with them while listening to their favourite songs. Most funeral songs are beautiful and sad, leaving most attendees heartbroken and tearful. But some of the quirkier characters in our lives may opt for more... unconventional tunes to send them off.

Co-op Funeral Care has rounded up some of the strangest choices for funeral songs, and a few of them will have your jaw on the floor. Some of these odd choices make sense for the more cheerful characters in our lives, who would prefer their funeral to be a celebration rather than a commiseration. But other tunes on this list are just plain confusing.

Coming up in first place on the list of odd funeral songs is the Vengaboys' We Like to Party!. While a funeral service is supposed to celebrate the passed person's life, this tune is understandably a little too up-beat for most- but clearly a select few people want to party on into the afterlife.

The unexpected tune that made second place on the list of unconventional funeral songs is Ding Dong Witch is Dead from The Wizard of Oz, which we can assume is mostly chosen for the more unpopular of the deceased.

While clearly not a conventional choice for most funerals, the song did reach number two in the charts following the death of Margaret Thatcher in 2013.

Coming in at number three was Gangnam Style by PSY, a classic party song since its viral release in 2012. But definitely not your run-of-the-mill funeral tune.

Third place will stick out as the oddest choice of send off song for some, as the Jaws movie theme music took up this spot on the list.

If you want to give your loved ones a scare on your way out, this intense tune may be the choice when your time comes.

Another viral (and many would say, overplayed) song on the list is the painfully catchy Dance Monkey by Australian sensation Tones & I.

Dance Monkey came in at fifth place on the list of odd funeral service songs.

Undeniably the funniest choice on the list, the comedians amongst us would choose the Countdown theme song for their funeral, perhaps to let everyone else know that they don't have forever either.

Other honourable mentions on the list include ACDC's Highway to Hell (objectively hilarious), as well as the Shipping Forecast theme and 21 Seconds by So Solid Crew.
