Wakeboarder airlifted to hospital after suffering 'serious injuries' off Galloway coast

A wakeboarder had to be airlifted to hospital after suffering “serious injuries” off the Galloway coast.
Emergency service rushed to the Killantringan Lighthouse area on Saturday afternoon after it emerged the woman needed medical attention.
The Stranraer RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was launched from Portpatrick and got to the scene along with coastguard crews from Portpatrick, Drummore and Stranraer, as well as the Scottish Ambulance Service.
Stranraer Lifeboat’s medical advisor Dr Ross was also on hand, with the team’s report saying her “expertise provided valuable support to the casualty”, who had sustained serious injuries.
The “severity” of those meant the Coastguard Rescue 151 helicopter was dispatched and airlifted the woman to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Duty helm Sean Hannah said: “The shout was a clear example of how well multiple emergency services work together when someone is in need. Our crew were tasked to support casualty care at Killantringan Lighthouse, and thanks to the swift actions of HM Coastguard, the Scottish Ambulance Service, the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter and our own RNLI team, the casualty was safely transferred to hospital for further treatment.
“We also wish the casualty a safe and speedy recovery.”
