Woman horrified after pregnant friend choses 'intestinal' name for baby girl
People urged her to 'risk her friendship' with the mum-to-be in order to try to save the child from inevitable bullying.
Choosing a baby name is one of the trickiest decisions a new parent has to make. Do you go for something classic and traditional, or more modern and unique?
Whatever you choose, it sticks with the child for life. So something that sounds cute for a baby, might not suit an adult, while a formal title may seem a bit off for a youngster.
People are influenced by many things when thinking about potential names. From their favourite TV characters to gems and jewellery - and, in some cases, serial killers - there's a whole host of places to find inspiration.
One of the most obvious is turning to family. Many names carry down through the generations of certain families as new parents honour those that have come before them.
But, with the potential for lots of grandparents, siblings, aunts, and uncles to choose from, it can be hard to pick the right one without offending anyone.
Some people decide to go for compound names; combining the monikers of several relatives to create a unique, new title that references several people.
But while this can be a nice touch, it also runs the risk of something not quite sounding right. And this is exactly what has happened for one mum-to-be.

More on baby names
The woman is due to give birth to a daughter next month, and she and her husband have already picked out the name. Delighted with their choice, they sent out a WhatsApp message to friends and family with the chosen title.
In a bid to pay homage to their own parents, called Fernando, Cameron, and Lynne, the couple decided to combine the trio of names and come up with something a bit alternative.
The result, however, might not go down as well as they hope. A screenshot of the pregnant woman's message was shared on Reddit, where users were aghast at the final choice.
Posting on the Tragedeigh forum, where people discuss terribly-spelt names, one user said: "My college friend and the very 'intestinal' sounding new name she chose for her daughter".
The message read: "Our beautiful daughter, due 04/09. FECALYNN - honouring her grandparents Fernando, Cameron, and Lynne - who are important parts of my husband's and my lives."
The post has racked up 32,000 likes in the seven days since it was posted, as well as attracting almost 3,000 comments - mostly from horrified Redditors.
The use of 'fecal' in the name led many users to suggest it sounded like the name of a medication to improve bowel movements.
One popular comment said: "Honey, have you taken your fecalynn today? I know how constipated you've been..." Someone else replied, adding: "Fecalynn… for when you need to fecalout!"
A third user commented: "Fecalynn sounds like a medication that comes with a lot of unpleasant side effects." And a fourth added: "Ask your doctor if Fecalynn is right for you!"
Others were, unsurprisingly, concerned for the impending arrival - and how she would have to deal with a lifetime of mockery with her moniker.
The top-rated comment implored the original poster to step in. It read: "Please, for the love of all that is holy, risk your friendship to save this child from a lifetime of bullying before it's too late."
Another Redditor said: "This kid is f***ed for her whole life. As a teacher I can promise they’re making a miserable school life for their child. Really s***ty when you think about it. Just selfish and idiotic."
While others suggested different options that the parents-to-be could have chosen. One said: "Couldn’t have just named her Fernanda and have two middle names for her other grandparents?"
Someone else replied: "Seriously, why have these people never heard of middle names? You don't need to mash everything together."
