Yellowstone favourite takes on totally different role in 'best film of the year' out soon
A Yellowstone actor is set to show a very different side to himself in a new film that's been called one of the best of 2025
Yellowstone star Luke Grimes is a million miles from his beloved character Kayce Dutton in a critically acclaimed new film arriving in cinemas this week.
Having already launched in the United States last month, Ari Aster's Eddington is finally making its way to UK screens this Friday, 22nd August.
The black comedy thriller unfolds during the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic in a small New Mexico town, delving into the bitter rivalry between Sheriff Joe Cross (portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix) and Mayor Ted Garcia (Pedro Pascal) as they clash in a heated mayoral race.
Their political warfare sparks chaos throughout their community, compelling officers like Grimes' character Guy Tooley to intervene.
Whilst the Yellowstone actor has previously tackled law enforcement roles in the Paramount Network's hugely successful contemporary Western drama, Grimes adopts a far more lighthearted approach for this latest offering from celebrated Midsommar filmmaker Ari Aster, reports the Mirror.
Esquire branded Grimes' portrayal as the complete "opposite" of what audiences have grown accustomed to from him during their chat with the screen star.
"He's a guy who clearly is just afraid and trying to point the finger anywhere," the performer explained regarding his role.
"It didn't read that way in the script, originally, but we worked on it, and he became more of a bumbling fool than a hateful person.
"That was our way into it - just a guy trying to figure it all out and failing miserably."
Whilst the film has sparked a mixed reaction thus far, numerous cinema enthusiasts and reviewers have hailed Eddington as amongst 2025's finest offerings and absolutely deserving of a viewing once it reaches UK shores.
One five-star Google review declared: "This movie delivers on its promise to bring you back in time to the pandemic and make you feel those same feelings of isolation, hypocrisy and helplessness.

Paramount+ is offering 50% off its Standard and Premium subscriptions until July 10.
"This is one of the best of the year thus far and one I will remember fondly. Thank you to the cast, crew, and writers for delivering us with a quality film like this. I hope to see more like it."
Beyond the cinema, Grimes is confirmed to return as Kayce in the forthcoming Yellowstone spin-off, Y: Marshals, scheduled to debut in late 2025 or early 2026 on CBS.
Dropping hints about the new series, he revealed: "There are going to be some familiar faces, but we're not shooting here in Montana.
"Everything else is going to feel like a different world."
Will you be catching Eddington this weekend or are you holding out for the Yellowstone star's comeback to television?
