Outlander's Sam Heughan makes nostalgic trip to Edinburgh Military Tattoo

The Scots Outlander actor delighted crowds as he made an appearance at the historic event in the capital city.

Outlander star Sam Heughan was beaming with joy as he made an appearance at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, much to the delight of fans. He grinned widely at the event in the Scottish capital, which attracts people from across the globe.


The Scottish actor last attended nearly three decades ago, back in 1992, when he was only a young boy. Organisers for the event praised the star for taking the time out his 'busy schedule' to join them in the celebrations.


The official Facebook page shared snaps of the star, who is famed for playing Jamie Fraser in Outlander, as fans soon flooded the comments. Some were even lucky enough to bump into Heughan, with others gutted they missed him.


"Sam Heughan joined us last night to watch the Show, his first time since 1992, when he came as a young boy," they wrote alongside the snaps in their Facebook post.

"Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with us and enjoy the performance, Sam! You can catch Sam on Starz, where he plays a starring role in the new season of Outlander."


Sam was sporting a forest green shirt, paired with light wash denim jeans as he wore a casual black baseball cap. Fans were quick to point out that his facial hair is growing back, as they praised how great he was looking.

The post has certainly captured the attention of the Highland warrior hunks fanbase, after already racking up over 3.3k likes and shares on Facebook.

Fans quickly flooded the comments section thrilled at the sighting, as they also shared their own encounters meeting the Scottish acting star, and their appreciation for the annual international festival, which brings people from around the globe to the capital.


One fan wrote: "We were there last night, too! Fabulous show. Wish we had seen Sam!," as another said: "Wish I’d been sat next to Sam last night! Brilliant performances by everyone at the Tattoo!"

"Wow! Wish he’d been coming on Saturday- I’d definitely have grabbed him for a selfie ! Love him in Outlander!," quipped another.


Another lucky fan, who bumped into the Outlander star before the event in Edinburgh, chimed: "We met him yesterday before the Tattoo and he is very kind and friendly."

One fan also shared her encounter of the Scottish actor previously. She wrote: "Saw him up close and personal when he was the Grand Marshall at the NYC Tartan Parade. Every bit as good looking and nice and generous as you would expect “Jamie” to be.

"A great symbol of Scottishness.!! Caitriona was there too (they were with Ron Moore and wife viewing the Season 2 costumes in the windows at Sack’s 5th Ave. Both as beautiful as you can imagine."
